Dance and Theater Studio Presents their Taking Off Inaugural
Spring Workshop including Theater Dance and Ballet Performances by
Princeton Dance Theater PRINCETON, NJ, April 30, 2004PRINCETON DANCE AND THEATER STUDIO Directors Susan Jaffe and Risa Gary Kaplowitz present their first annual Spring Workshop on Saturday May 14, 2004 at the Yvonne Theater at Rider University, 2083 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Performances are at 1:30 and 5:30. There will be a special Meet and Greet VIP reception with Ms. Jaffe, Ms. Kaplowitz and Faculty between performances at 3:30. Tensia Fonseca, Director of Maryland Youth Ballet, will be an honored guest at the performances and VIP reception. Mrs. Fonseca and her Maryland Youth Ballet provided the training ground for Directors Jaffe and Kaplowitz and Faculty member /choreographer Laurie Yeames which launched them into their respective professional dancing careers. Ms. Jaffe and Ms. Kaplowitz can not speak highly enough about the training and life lessons they received in the caring, family like environment at Maryland Youth Ballet. I knew I wanted to open a Studio that would provide the best possible instruction in a nurturing and caring environment, said Ms Kaplowitz. When Susan and I decided to open the Studio together, we found that after all these years we had very much a shared vision around what the School and Youth Company should be based on our wonderful experience at MYB. When I spoke to Mrs. Fonseca to tell her about our first Spring Workshop, she told me she would be coming to be with her other children in spite of MYB having performances on the same day. We are so thrilled she will be with us. As a highlight of the workshop, Princeton Dance Theater, the pre professional dance company comprised of advanced Princeton Dance and Theater Studio students, will perform two ballet pieces and one theater dance piece. Paquita is being staged by Susan Jaffe and will be performed by the advanced pointe students. Variations on a theme by Paganini has been choreographed by Risa Kaplowitz and Laurie Yeames loosely based on a ballet by Mina Davison and will be performed by the intermediate pointe students. The theater dance students will perform Rhythm of Life from Sweet Charity (choreographed by Geoffrey Doig Marx). The workshop program also includes excellent performances in Tap, Jazz, Improv and Ballet. It has been so rewarding for me to have my own students that I teach every week, said Susan Jaffe. I have seen them grow in so many ways as dancers during the 8 months our studio has been open. This first workshop will be very special for us and our students and I am sure the audience will be delighted when they see what we have in store for them! Workshop tickets are $10.00. The Meet and Greet costs $30.00 and will also include light refreshments and a ticket to the performance. To order tickets please call the studio at 609-514-1600. Princeton Dance and Theater Studio is located at 116 Rockingham Row, Princeton Forrestal Village, Princeton, NJ 08540.
